RMC# 5- “Don’t die with your song left inside of you.”

One of the things we do in Purpose is to tell people about finishing the Choices training. To do so, you must sponsor someone and come back and TA. I think some people continue to be in their fears about becoming a TA, hearing their tapes: “I’m not good enough”, “I’m not smart enough”… on and on.

I have information for you: you are good enough and you are smart enough and you do matter. But most of this is what you don’t know, so it doesn’t really help does it?

From many years of being a TA, I can tell you what I know. This is what you will miss if you do not TA:

  • A chance to hear Thelma saying: “Don’t die with your song left inside of you.”
  • Learning to hug so deeply and honestly that the person you are hugging knows with a certainty that they are safe with you.
  • Having people share deep hurts and fears with you and knowing that just by hugging them or holding their hands you have made a difference.
  • Being able to bring a beautiful young woman who had serious surgery together with another beautiful young woman who is facing the same thing and allowing them to create their own healing forces.
  • Being able to bring an abused person with another similarly abused person who has dealt with the trauma and allowing them to create their own healing forces.
  • Learning all of the words to the stretch songs and crying, even 8 years later, when the song comes on the radio or is played from a CD. To really know: “How bad do you want it?” and to “Live like you were dying!”
  • Hearing Steve Davis in the Sunday sermon starting out by doing a rendition of “Great Balls of Fire” and ending up with people with tears of hope and joy standing around the room.
  • Knowing for sure that you are a winner.
  • Understanding even more deeply and completely the meaning and feeling of unconditional LOVE.

This is a gift you must give yourself. You must be a sponsor and you must call the Choices office and request to be a coach. This is a gift you deserve. Love Durk.
